Har Ki Dun trek

The Har Ki Dun trek is followed in the Har Ki Dun Valley located in the Garhwal region of Himalayas. This trek is said to be one of the oldest treks in India, the reason being it is said the Pandavas (the protagonists in the popular India epic Mahabharata) followed the trail of this trek and on this route they found their way to the Gates of Heaven. This is one more reason why the Har Ki Dun Valley is also known as the Valley of Gods. Set in the foothills of Garhwal Himalayas the Har Ki Dun trek is encompassed with spectacular views of snow covered peaks and alpine vegetation on either side of the route. One such peak is Mount Swargrohini known for its beauty when bathed in the morning sunlight which you is visible from a couple of campsites during the trek. The Valley diverges into different paths and with each step appears to be widening. The Har Ki Dun peak is however, right in front of the trail.

The camp is set at the foot of the Har Ki Dun Mountain with the gushing sound of river flowing by, the serenity of the mountains surrounding it and of course the clear skies. There is a huge contrast in the place during summers and winters. As in winters the place looks completely white covered in snow from top to bottom and in summers the green flows in as the white fades out. During summers the Valley is rich in diversity of flora and fauna marking for an absolutely amazing experience for the trekkers bringing out the beauty of Uttarakhand altogether.
